Trimūrti as Atomic Science:
Western thought may have built this world by appropriating knowledge from everywhere but when it comes to Hindu knowledge it has a ‘policy’ to not only downplay it but to deny it altogether. The Hindu numbers became Arabic even though they write from right to left and ‘their’ numbers are written left to right. In fact the West have financed an army of intellectuals to mis-translate Sanskrit text, mutilate the meaning and thought and to spread ridiculous ideas. It all begun with Sanskrit Mill Operation of British Empire.
The Forgotten Center of Hindu Thought
When modern scholars like Wendy Doniger claim they cannot find the “center” of Hindu thought, they reveal more about their own intellectual blinkers than about Hindu thought itself. For anyone raised within the dharmic imagination, the center is self-evident. The core of Hindu thought is the Trimūrti that is Brahmā (creation), Viṣṇu (preservation), and Śiva (destruction/transformation). Far from being three quarrelsome deities of mythology, they are principles of cosmic energy. The Ṛṣis articulated what we today might call a physics of existence.
And if we compare it with atomic science, the parallel is breathtakingly obvious.
The Atomic Trinity
In modern science, an atom is the fundamental building block of matter. It is made of protons, neutrons, and electrons.
- Protons (positive charge) decide the element itself. A hydrogen atom has 1 proton, helium has 2, oxygen has 8. The proton is the identity-maker, the source of differentiation in creation.
- Neutrons (neutral) give stability. Without the right number of neutrons, an atom becomes unstable and falls apart (radioactive). They preserve balance.
- Electrons (negative charge) whirl around dynamically, driving all reactions. They change, bond, transform matter. Without them, no chemistry, no life.
Now place this next to the Trimūrti:
- Brahmā = Proton Sṛṣṭi-kartā: the creator, the one who gives identity to creation. Just as the proton “decides” whether something is hydrogen or gold, Brahmā decides the nature of existence.
- Viṣṇu = Neutron Sthiti-kartā: the preserver, the one who holds things together. Neutrons stabilize the nucleus, just as Viṣṇu stabilizes dharma, ensuring the universe does not collapse in chaos.
- Śiva = Electron Saṃhāra-kartā: the destroyer-transformer. Like electrons, Śiva is dynamic, whirling, governing interaction, enabling transformation. Electrons are negative in charge, but not “evil.” They make renewal possible.
The Hindu Rishi (Ṛṣis) saw, long before science, that reality itself is sustained by a triadic cycle of energies: creation, preservation, transformation.
The Cyclical Center of Hinduism
Unlike Abrahamic religions, which look for a single prophet or a single scripture as a “center,” Hindu thought places the center in process. It is Sanatan or everlasting. It exists in a timeless way. Existence is not static. It is a cycle, a dance (nṛtya) of energies.
That is why Śiva is depicted as Naṭarāja, the cosmic dancer. It is not mythology but a scientific metaphor: the dance of particles, the constant flux of energy, the endless cycle of birth and death, atom and void, star and black hole.
And this is where Western scholars went wrong. They expected to find “dogma.” When they didn’t, they reduced the Trimūrti into mythological characters or exoticized symbols. In doing so, they completely missed the central intuition: that Hindu philosophy describes the same laws of energy that modern atomic science has rediscovered.
Sanskrit Transliteration (IAST)**.
British started the distortion by making the Sanskrit obscure in reading even in English. The transliteration of Sanskrit is all wrong. In this article I have used the proper spelling and its western convention. Why is Vishnu written as Viṣṇu? Why is Rishi written as Ṛṣis.
They organised the Geneva Oriental Congress of 1894 where International Alphabet of Sanskrit Transliteration (IAST). The committee standardized diacritic-based Latin transliteration for Sanskrit and Indic scripts. The original name is Compte-rendu de la neuvième Session du Congrès International des Orientalistes which translated in Geneva Congress proceedings, 1895 publication.
Diacritic marking or those dots and marks above and under the script, is very difficult especially in the era of computers. I have used AI to generate these characters. In my view it was part of the Operation Sanskrit Mill, referred earlier.
Translation Matters
Why is Hindu thought called Hinduism? Is there any Christianism? There used to be a Mohammedanism but after the fall of Ottoman Empire and Caliph, British started using the term Islam. They conceded. Sanatan Dharma will soon attain that proper status once India becomes prosperous enough to ask for it. Media will follow and academia can not be left behind. But mis-translations had drastic effect.
Had colonial translators read “anna-dah” (food-destroyer) as simply condemning hoarding instead of inventing elaborate notions of sin, India’s wisdom on resource ethics might have informed global economics. Instead, mis-translations and distortions made Hinduism appear irrational or obsessed with ritual, rather than scientific.
Similarly, had they understood the Trimūrti as energetic laws, not “pagan gods,” perhaps the conversation between science and philosophy would have begun much earlier.
It is not accidental that physicists like Oppenheimer, who quoted the Gītā when witnessing the atomic bomb, sensed a profound truth. The Rishis or Ṛṣis did not need a laboratory to intuit what today we call atomic structure. They mapped it onto existence itself, in atoms, in galaxies, in life.
A Self Critique
You may think it is an over-simplification of a complex atomic science. Sit with a scientist and you will know. The atomic science is simple but we do not know their vocabulary. Similarly Hindu thought process used different vocabulary in Sanskrit. You may ask What about quarks, gluons, or electromagnetic forces? Short answer is that these are visual representations of the existence of energy. Long answer is that we do not know. For one thousand years the discovery of science using Sanskrit vocabulary is in disuse. Even today most people only know rudimentary Sanskrit.
On top of it, the author of this article is no expert either in atomic science or in Sanskrit. But the author has applied these principles for better health. See the published book My Sanatan Dharma: The Core Principles for Health and Longevity. Therefore, the author has a sense of practical knowledge behind the idea of Trimurti. Some day I will update that book.
The western bias is so prevailing that after publication of that book, all my books are now in shadowban. Royalties from Amazon have fallen by 90%. Similar bias exists in AI. Run this article through AI and it will tell you that it has no scientific basis. As if E=MC² was demonstrated by Einstein by actually converting the matter into energy and vice versa.
Anthropic Claude and AI went further and blocked my account because I dared to discuss my article on British grooming gangs and long association of British Government with Islam and its clergy. In any case that article will be part of my next book. But this shows how fragile the idea is of free opinion and expertise. You can only be an expert if you are sponsored like Meera Nanda.
Science can be a theory yet to be converted into practical application like E=MC². Or it may have origin in practical application which is yet to be properly explained in theory. Trimurti falls in the latter category.
Therefore I may not be an expert in a classical western way but I do know epistemology. This is the theme of this blog. I know how the knowledge across different domains is understood and preserved. That makes me a better expert than a single domain expert.
Conclusion
The Trimūrti is not “myth.” It is atomic science in philosophical form.
- Brahmā = Proton = Creation.
- Viṣṇu = Neutron = Preservation.
- Śiva = Electron = Transformation.
This is the center of Hindu thought. It is the recognition that energy, not dogma, governs existence. It is a truth so elegant that even today, science continues to confirm it.
Those who “ran in circles” searching for the center of Hindu thought missed it because they looked with the wrong eyes. The Rishis (Ṛṣis) had discovered that the cycle of energies is the heart of reality.
Admission of this fact by West amounts to violation of Christian thought of ‘discovery because the Christianity belief is that they ‘discovered’ the knowledge and they own all the knowledge.
