Has the War between USA and Iran ended?
(Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding)
The short and honest answer is that we do not know. We know nothing about this war. Why the war started? What was its objective? Why it continued for nearly four months? But its conclusion was predicted by me a long back and it came true. The alleged treaty signed by USA and Iran on June 17 is a Memorandum of Understanding which will culminate into a final treaty after 60 days when parties will continue to negotiate. The strait of Hormuz will open soon. Iran will be able to sell its oil at once.
It is a deja vu moment. USA agreed to felicitate $300 billion for war reparation and completely removing the sanctions on Iran. The terms are nothing short of surrender. Irony is the choice of place of signing the alleged Treaty by President Trump. Another epistemological failure?
Palace of Versailles where Germany had agreed to pay war reparations after surrendering in World War 1 about 7 months earlier. Merely renaming the document as ‘Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding’ neither takes away that fact nor changes the terms of alleged treaty.
The war began on February 28, 2026, with surprise U.S.-Israeli airstrikes on Iran, killing Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Iran retaliated with drone and ballistic missile strikes targeting Israel and U.S. military bases in Bahrain, Qatar, UAE, Saudi Arabia, and Turkey, hitting critical radar defense installations.
In an earlier article it was argued that the war was never really about a nuclear Iran. Instead, it was an economic compulsion for the USA driven by dollar preservation. With U.S. debt approaching $38–40 trillion and $10 trillion in treasury bonds maturing in 2026, the war was a desperate move to halt de-dollarization. It was especially necessary due to yuan oil settlements and the expansion of BRICS. War created a crisis that forced the world back to the safety of the dollar and U.S. treasuries.
Iran responded by blocking the Strait of Hormuz, triggering energy price inflation and disrupting global trade. In an earlier article published on March 14, 2026 and titled [Iran Declares Blockade of Strait of Hormuz](https://sandeepbhalla.in/iran-declares-blockade-of-strait-of-hormuz/ Following speech of British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher gave in the UK Parliament on January 28, 1980 was quoted:
“The Soviet Union has driven a wedge into the heart of the Muslim world. If its hold on Afghanistan is consolidated, the Soviet Union will, in effect, have vastly extended its borders with Iran, will have acquired a border more than 1,000 miles long with Pakistan, and will have advanced to within 300 miles of the Straits of Hormuz, which control the Persian Gulf. These are the facts. They are a cause for alarm both to the countries of the region and to ourselves.”
It was argued that Thatcher clearly understood the Strait of Hormuz as the primary strategic choke-point of global energy supply that had to be protected at all costs. But war planners in USA failed to anticipate it.
On March 22, 2026 the dilemma of USA was analysed. USA had solved every tactical problem including the dollar, oil and Brics but it was unable to get out of war now. Rather it had to retreat away from Hormuz due to a possible missile attack from Iran. It was concluded:
On April 3, 2026 it was argued that “the IRGC does not need to win. It needs to not lose visibly for long enough that Trump’s domestic clock runs out, which it will, because American attention cycles are measured in weeks and Iranian strategic patience is measured in decades.”
Iran (IRGC) kept attacking gulf countries with drones and they struggle to intercept all the drones. Many hit the targets. The pressure on USA escalated with every strike. The Ukrainian interceptor solution was never introduced due to the conflict of interest highlighted in that article on Trump’s Victory Speech.
By signing of the Islamabad Memorandum of Understanding, President has agreed to give the tiger a big loaf of meat. Removal of all sanctions and $300 billion for reconstruction. Exactly as predicted on 26 March 2026 itself in these words:
The prediction about a quiet exit where both leaders simultaneously claim victory has finally come true. Ultimately, “Iran does not need to defeat America; it only needs to remain standing, unconquered, and coherent.”
